Message from the Principal

Dear MIHFA Families,

It is almost the end of the school year.  We have all worked so hard and I want to celebrate all of our accomplishments!  Let's all finish strong by being to school on time every day ready to learn.  Students have be SAFE, RESPONSIBLE and RESPECTFUL all year, let's keep up that great behavior as we sail into summer break.

From Wednesday, May 24 through Thursday, June 8 every day is a minimum day with all students being dismissed at 1:30.

There is NO SCHOOL on Friday, May 26 and Monday, May 29 in celebration of Memorial Day.

We will be having a Say Hello To SUMMER! BOOK FAIR the week of May 30-June 2.  Spend the morning with us at the Mare-A-Thon and then have fun shopping for summer reading books at the Book Fair.  Our Book Fair is put on by out PTSA!  Thank you to Sharon Shonk and the PTSA for putting this on!!

Our annual Mare-A-Thon will be held on Friday, June 2 from 9 am to 1:30.  Students in grades K-5 will take a 5K walk around the island and return to a fun field day.  Classes will be enjoying lunch on the lawn.  Families are welcome to come join us for the day.  Donations of granola bars, graham cracker and goldfish crackers are needed to provide snacks for the students.

Students in Middle School will enjoy a fun day at the Mare Island Sports Complex.

Fidget Spinners, Slime, and Kendamas are all banned on the MIHFA campus.  If any of these items are found on campus they will be taken away from the student.  An adult must be present for the item to be returned.

Wednesday Morning Walkers

Join our group of parent leaders for our WEDNESDAY WALKERS GROUP.  The group meets at 8:30 every Wednesday morning in front of room 21 our school's Community Room.  They then take a 15-20 walk around Mare Island to get their morning started on the right foot.  Come out and meet other Mare Island Health and Fitness Academy parents and Touro University Public Health students.  After the walk the group does some light stretching and shares information on ways to support a healthy lifestyle.  Everyone is welcome!  Come join us!
