What We Do/Our Mission
The Expanded Learning Program at Mare Island Health and Fitness Academy is a safe place for students to cultivate their academics, learn how to take initiative, manage their feelings, and develop a healthy lifestyle with social and interactive skills that will advance them in school and everyday life. With the wide variety of kindergarten to eight grade students, this program gives them the opportunity to teach the next generation and grow in their own. In sustenance of support to development tools, we also offer programs designed to expose them to activities and programs that will challenge them to reach their full potential. We offer these learning opportunities to fully develop their social, emotional, and self-awareness skills by implementing teamwork and problem-solving activities.
Why We Do It/Our Vision
We believe that every child should have a space to achieve academic excellence and be exposed to quality enrichment programs regardless of grade, ethnicity, or stature.
How We Achieve It/Program Plan
Students will be supervised, challenged, and supported academically by daily and one on one grade check-ins with teachers and parents, a variety of activities, homework assistance, and tutoring programs that gear students towards emergent leaders and successful students.
The Vallejo City Unified School District Expanded Learning Program, is designed to provide a safe and educationally enriching program for our youth during non- school hours. In Vallejo City Unified this program provides academic support, enrichment classes, and physical activity programming for students grades K-8th, with priority enrollment given to homeless and foster youth and students in need of an extended school day to achieve academic goals.
